ProSign/400 SignOn Display Manager

ProSign/400 provides a convenient means for customizing the IBM AS/400 signon display screen. Now, you can design signon display screens the way you want. Multiple alternative display formats are provided, and you can choose the one which best fits your needs. Each alternative screen provides a different combination of input-capable signon information fields and related display attributes.
All formats provide a multi-line image area, up to 17 rows by 78 columns, in which you can present installation-specific messages. You can use this area for a wide variety of purposes, including both static (seldom changing) and dynamic (highly variable) information. You have complete freedom to design any combination of static and dynamic areas of any size, shape, and quantity within the message image.
Static information is especially useful when remote users and/or customers access your system. Examples of applications include:
Dynamic messages are handy when you need the absolute delivery assurance provided by the signon screen. After all, everyone must use it! Examples include:
- A facsimile of your company logo and other identifying information.
- Contact and support information.
- Addresses and telephone numbers.
Full support for all AS/400 terminal display attributes is provided. You can incorporate colors, blinking, underline, high intensity, reverse image, and column separators freely into your messages. We have also provided a means to include special characters, such as the box (n), which cannot be typed on the keyboard. The message possibilities are limited only by your imagination and the size of the message area.
- Status messages such as special schedules for system shutdown.
- Daily announcements.
- Hot news.
- Advisory messages such as instructions to read new bulletins.
- Congratulatory messages such as employee birthdays, employment anniversaries, and birth announcements.
Messages can be updated at any time without ending subsystems and without users having to sign off. Updated message areas will be visible to the user the next time the signon display screen is presented. Interactive facilities are provided for designing and updating message areas, and program API's allow you to develop your own applications for applying dynamic changes automatically or for allowing direct user input in a controlled manner.
If your installation uses multiple interactive subsystems, separate display formats and message sets can be used for each subsystem, or shared among subsystems, as needed. Up to nine message sets are available with the multiple message sets feature. This capability is especially useful if outside parties access your system.
ProSign/400 works with both monochrome and color terminals, as well as PC emulators. OS/400 V2R3 or above, including RISC versions, is required. With V5, you must be using 10-character password support. Free technical support is provided for 90 days.
