FORMagic Forms Overlay Manager

The FORMagic Forms Overlay Manager is the perfect companion for your HP or compatible laser printer. With FORMagic, you can overlay one or more forms onto existing documents, with minor or even no changes in the application. You can now eliminate expensive, pre-printed forms and give plain-paper documents a more formal and pleasing appearance.

These capabilities, and more, are available for any application running on almost any platform, including iSeries, AS/400, Windows, DOS, Unix, Linux, AIX, Sun, DEC, HP, even IBM mainframes. Specific versions are available for the iSeries and AS/400, Windows, and DOS. Other platforms are supported by our Host Developer Kit.

• Eliminate pre-printed letterhead, invoices, statements, purchase orders, drawing forms, labels, even checks! Reduce forms printing expense and obsolescence, end delays due to out-of-stock forms, and never stop to load special forms again!
• Dress up plain paper documents. Add forms and images to memos, faxes, sales reports, accounting reports, image archives prints, anything printed on plain paper!

Powerful Capabilities are Provided for all Platforms:

• Create forms with any word processor, text editor, desktop publisher, form maker, or graphics design system on any desktop operating system, such as Windows, DOS, or OS/2. Use any feature provided in your software: lines, symbols, boxes, images, logos, extra text, blackouts, whiteouts, shading, barcodes, special fonts, drawing and paint facilities, and more! Most of our customers use Microsoft Word or Word Perfect; paying for, and learning to use, special software to design forms is not required!
• Convert forms into overlays and download them into your printer, just like fonts, as needed. With flash or disk memory and our FlashMagic Non-Volatile Memory Manager, you can store forms permanently and eliminate periodic downloading.
• Operate FORMagic as an add-on facility, making only minor changes to your existing application software. If you can design and print the forms you need, FORMagic can merge them with printed output from any application.
• Maintain centralized administration and control of forms.
• Use any printer compatible with HP's PCL5e or above printer control language, including PCL5c for color printers. This includes the LaserJet 4 and above and upper-end DeskJets.
• FORMagic/400 requires OS/400 V3R7 or above (call for V2R3 through V3R6, AS/436, or System/36 SSP) and supports any method for attaching 3812-SCS printers, including direct attach twinax adapters, network adapters, PC-based software printer emulators, and router-based emulation systems such as PC Support, Client Access, NetSoft, Rumba, etc.
• FORMagic/Windows works with any 32-bit version of Windows. With the FORMagic Merge facility, you can use FORMagic forms with most Windows and DOS applications.
• FORMagic/DOS works with DOS 2.1 or later, DOS under Windows, and almost any printing program using printer ports LPT1, LPT2, or LPT3.
• FORMagic/Windows can support almost any host platform when:
  • The FORMagic Host Develope Kit is used, or
  • A printer is accessible to both FORMagic/Windows and the host, forms are stored in printer flash memory or downloaded from the PC, and short PCL commands are embedded in host print applications to control the forms merge process.

Additional information:

FORMagic/400 provides unlimited use from a single iSeries or AS/400 processor and includes one copy of the client for generating forms on a single Windows PC. Additional PC copies can be purchased separately if needed. The base version requires minor program changes to add short PCL commands which control the forms merge process. The optional AutoMerge feature eliminates the need for any program changes in almost all applications. The FlashMagic Non-Volatile Memory Manager allows FORMagic overlays to be downloaded from a PC into non-volatile printer flash or disk memory. An AS/400 version will be available in the future. It is available for evaluation upon request. All FORMagic products are available on a 30-day, no obligation trial basis with most optional features enabled. All include free technical support during the evaluation and for ninety days after purchase. Extended support plans are available. Upgrades for enhanced versions will be offered to current users at a special upgrade price for a reasonable period after the initial availability.
